Professional Background
Over the past four decades, I've worked with Fortune 500 companies, public agencies, nonprofit organizations, entrepreneurs, and homeowner associations. While the organizations were different, my work consistently focused on strengthening governance, improving operations, and building financially sound organizations.
Corporate Leadership
I began my career in brand management with The Quaker Oats Company, Kraft Foods, and S.C. Johnson & Sons
- The Quaker Oats Company — Led the business turnaround of Quaker Natural Cereal.
- Kraft Foods — Managed the Miracle Whip brand, one of the company's flagship consumer brands and the market leader in its category.
- S.C. Johnson — Led the due diligence workstream supporting the acquisition and integration of the Dow Brands household cleaning portfolio.
These experiences taught me how successful organizations evaluate data, manage risk, allocate resources, and make decisions with long-term consequences.
Founder & CEO
I founded Watermark Services, Inc., a management consulting firm serving both public and nonprofit organizations in the United States.
Clients included:
- Alabama Department of Public Health
- Chicago Public Schools
- Greater Chicago Food Depository
- Southland Development Authority
For these organizations, my work focused on strengthening operations, improving financial management, developing procurement procedures, creating operational manuals, establishing governance guardrails, and leading financial and operational audits.
International Consulting
While living in Switzerland, I founded Watermark Services GmbH, serving multinational pharmaceutical companies throughout Europe.
Clients included:
- Novartis Pharmaceuticals
- Roche Pharmaceuticals
- Shire Pharmaceuticals
Much of my work centered on corporate financial reporting, helping support financial reporting processes for Novartis and its international subsidiaries.
Entrepreneurship
Throughout my career I've also owned and operated businesses, including:
- Awarded a Wendy's Old Fashioned Hamburgers Restaurant franchise
- Delaney Real Estate Holdings, Inc.
These experiences reinforced the importance of accountability, customer service, budgeting, and operational discipline.
Nonprofit Leadership
Today I'm the co-founder of Paratus, a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping small businesses become better prepared for future challenges.
HOA Leadership
Community governance is not new to me.
Before moving to Ocean Hills, I served for five years as President of my condominium association in Chicago and was also active in the Howe, Burling, Orchard Streets community association in Lincoln Park.
Those experiences reinforced an important lesson:
Homeowners deserve responsive service, responsible stewardship of their dues, and boards that treat residents as partners rather than spectators.
I believe every stage of my career has prepared me for this opportunity. Whether working with Fortune 500 companies, startups, nonprofits, or homeowner associations, the principles have remained the same:
- Listen carefully.
- Ask thoughtful questions.
- Build sound financial and operational systems.
- Treat people with respect.
- Focus on long-term stewardship rather than short-term convenience.
Those are the same principles I would bring to the Ocean Hills Board.
